Censorship by Cryptic

Post by BobO369 »

Well I'm sure my forum access in STO had been banned by now but I just could not let it go. So the link to my last post is below.

http://forums.startrekonline.com/showth ... ost3593208

I'm sure it will be closed so I have put what I posted for all to see.

I don’t see why Cryptic has decided to use censorship on the Feedback forum. They have closed two posts that stated factual information and have replied to the people that supported the post with warnings and edits under the forum code of conduct.

This post http://forums.startrekonline.com/showth ... p?t=217322 and http://forums.startrekonline.com/showth ... p?t=219356 were posted by people that play on the KDF side with valid concerns and feedback on what needs to be done to improve the KDF game play.

Instead of addressing these concerns Cryptic has close the topics and sent out warnings to some members that made posts in these threads. IMO the reasons stated by Cryptic for closing the two posts do not appear reasonable or justified by me.

This type of censorship in a feedback forum is shocking to me.

Well that did not take long I have been banned from the STO forums until 6/22. On a side note I have gotten 10 PM's from other people that play on the KDF side supporting the post I made. Most of them also stated the Cryptic hammer was going to come down and it did.

So now it begins I have disputed the ban imposed on me and submitted the following ticket to STO support. I have no illusions that this will not be reversed but I just can’t let little crap like this go.

On 06/15/11 my forum access was banned do to a post I put on the STO Feedback forums.

http://forums.startrekonline.com/showth ... ost3593208

I have looked at the rules for forum posting and do not see why I was banned. Please specify what in the post the exact reason is for the ban. It appears to me that the Forum Moderators are become overzealous in their censorships of forum post when any negative feedback is posted. Both positive and negative feedback is needed for a company to make the changes necessary to improve their product. My post did not use any profanity, nor did it target any individual, nor could it be viewed as an attack against anyone on the forums. I don’t believe this ban is warranted or deserved.

Very very bad move mate, valid concerns or not, they have a complete non-tolerance of discussing moderator decisions on the forums.

I knew that it would get me banned but sometimes you have to just stand your ground and push back to let people know that they have gone too far. It looks like Cryptic has does not yet know the firestorm they have started as I have gotten over 20 PM's from other STO forum members expressing their support for my post and the fact that they are pissed at Cryptic for starting this censorship crap.

This could grow in to a very big fire if Cryptic keeps banning people for speaking out one what they see wrong with the game. This way of censoring stuff never ends well for the people doing it; it backfires and causes bigger issues then if they had just addressed the issue in the first place.
